Caring and compassionate pet euthanasia in the comfort of home

Home euthanasia services start at £220 and vary based on your pet’s weight, distance and the time or day of the visit. The price covers the home visit, pre-euthanasia sedation, and the euthanasia procedure itself.

Payment for my services is collected at the time of visit through bank transfer or cash.

Pet euthanasia is a calm and peaceful process. The vet will ensure every step is taken to make your pet’s farewell as smooth and stress-free as possible. This includes offering sedation before the euthanasia and giving family and loved ones plenty of time with your pet at each stage of the process. Choosing in-home euthanasia saves you and your pet the stress of traveling to a clinic, where they may have had negative experiences in the past, and allows you to say goodbye in the place they feel safest and most comfortable. Please note that if your pet is severely weakened when he arrives, proceeding with euthanasia without administering sedation might be needed. This is because sedation may cause a significant drop in blood pressure, making it difficult to place an IV catheter. In this case, he may use alternative injection methods directly into your pet’s body, which can sometimes be preferable, especially once your pet is fully anesthetized. He will always discuss these options with you beforehand if they are necessary. Additionally, in rare cases where pets are very unstable, euthanasia may be achieved with just the first injection, and the second injection may not be required.

There are no strict rules for determining the right time to put your pet to sleep, and ultimately, the decision is yours as your pet’s guardian. However, the following points may help guide your decision: Consider how much of their time your pet is enjoying. Are they no longer able to do the things they once loved? Are they in constant pain or discomfort? Are they experiencing ongoing nausea or other distressing symptoms? Are they unable to eat or get up to go to the toilet? Do you feel like you might be delaying the decision for your own sake rather than for theirs? This can be a challenging question to ask yourself, but ultimately, we only want what is best for them. As vets, we often speak with families both before and after the euthanasia process, and in nearly all cases, families never regret making the decision too early. Unfortunately, the opposite is often true. We are fortunate to be able to offer euthanasia as a peaceful and compassionate end-of-life option. It ensures that your pet does not suffer unnecessarily and allows them to pass with the love and care they deserve.

Our services are typically available from 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. However, appointment times may vary depending on the availability of the vet. While we are not a emergency service, emergency appointments may occasionally be available please contact us! If your pet is having breathing problems or in a great pain,  you should consider to take them to an emergency clinic where they can be seen immediately.

Our goal is to make the transition as peaceful and comfortable as we can for everyone involved, especially your pet. If our vet feels they are not able to move forward, we are able to discuss other options available like pre medication or  gentle restraining techniques.

There are several aftercare options available for your pet. If you opt for burial at home and are able to do so, or if you prefer to handle the cremation arrangements yourself, the vet will leave your pet in your care. Otherwise, him or a cremation partner will transport your pet for cremation. If your pet weighs over 20kg, please note that assistance may be required to move them to the vehicle. If you prefer not to assist with this, please let the vet know at the time of booking, and he can ensure additional help is available (please note extra charges may apply). If you’d like your pet to be cremated and their ashes returned, there are numerous options to choose from through our cremation partners, whether you wish to scatter, bury, or keep them in a memorial vessel. Alternatively there is the option of a communal cremation for your pet, where the ashes are not returned.

We do not allow photo or video recording of any kind during the euthanasia appointments. We allow video call with family members or friends through a non-recording video. Please ask for permission from the vet to take a video call that includes them.

Whether or not children should be present at a pet's euthanasia appointment is a personal decision that depends on the child's age, maturity, and relationship with the pet, as well as the family's overall wishes. It's important to consider the potential impact on the child, both positive and negative, and to prepare them for the experience.

We advise that housemate pets to be present for euthanasia of their companion. The most important aspect is that they realise that their friend has passed, so that they are not looking for a ‘ lost’ companion. The families who have a puppy or a anxious pet that who can be distressed about the presence of a guest in the house, might choose to not be present but we suggest that they be allowed to come to see the deceased pet before transport to the vet car (if it is the case).

If your pet is able to walk, it will be helpful to allow them to relieve their bladder and bowels shortly before the appointment. Most of the pets are in pain and/or very ill, so if they are under any medication please feel free to give any medication as directed. The process requires closeness, so it is best to place your pet in a place where  it can be easy accessed by the vet without needing to re-position them.

We reserve the right to ask for a deposit at the time of booking an appointment. A deposit of £100 by bank transfer with the remainder to be paid on the day of appointment, preferably by cash.
